Parenting Classes

Local Rule XXXI requires any party in a Dissolution or Divorce action with children to attend the “Helping Children Cope with Divorce” class prior to the cause being heard before the Court.
 
What is it?
Helping Children Cope With Divorce is a two-hour education program which offers information on the divorce process and post-divorce parenting.  The program is conducted by qualified professionals from Ohio State University Extension Office in Monroe County, Ohio.
 
Who Should Attend?
Parents who have children under the age of 18 who are seeking a divorce, dissolution, or custody / visitation modification.

  • How families experience Divorce
  • Typical reactions of children and adults
  • Skills for helping children cope
  • What to avoid
  • Post-Decree parenting
  • Step families.
Location:
OSU Extension Office, Woodsfield, Ohio
 
Fee:
$15.00 per person.  Make Checks Payable to OSU Extension, Monroe County.
Fee payable the date of the session.
 
Certificates:
Certificates will be given at the end of the session to those attending who have paid the fee.  Copies of the Certificates will be sent to the Monroe County Common Pleas Court for each person’s file.
 
Registration:
 
Pre-registration is required by the Friday before the next program.  To register or for further information, contact OSU Extension, Monroe County Office at 740-472-0810.  If you cannot attend a scheduled session at Monroe County, you may complete the class in another County in Ohio.  Call the OSU Extension for further details.
 
Important Details:
  • Child care is not provided
  • Any person arriving more than 15 minutes late will need to reschedule
  • Failure to pre-register may in result in class cancellation or no prepared Certificate of Participation
