Maternal Child Health Program

PROGRAM GOALS: 
to eliminate health disparities, improve birth outcomes, and improve the health status of Ohio women throughout a life course approach by:

  • Ensuring socio-emotional health needs of women are met
  • Decreasing smoking
  • Addressing social determinants of health
  • Implementing the Ohio Institute for Equity in Birth Outcomes (OEI) and providing safety services

PROGRAM FOCUS: Development and implementation of work place wellness programs and polices regarding Women's Preconception Health within the community.  The target population is small businesses with 50 or fewer employees.

HEALTH PROMOTION PROGRAM EDUCATION: 

  • Smoking Cessation Information
  • Physical Activity Recommendations
  • Hypertension Education
  • Diabetes Education
  • Obesity Prevention
  • Nutrition Recommendations 
  • Stress Reduction Education
  • Importance of Folic Acid

WORK PLACE WELLNESS ACTIVITIES:

  • Monthly health screenings
  • Monthly employee progress assessments
  • Health Department personnel will address health barriers and concerns monthly
  • Health strategies are provided to implement and adopt healthy changes monthly
  • Health education and health referral recommendations are provided monthly
